"That they all may be one."

John 17:21

A Question from our pastor

Are you wondering what happened to the Jesus who was accused of feasting with sinners, tax collectors and prostitutes?  Where is the Jesus who was nearly thrown off a cliff for declaring "hope for the poor, sight to the blind, and freedom for the imprisoned?"  How about the Jesus who asked to be fed, clothed, housed, and visited  on the sickbed?

He is not dead!  He is alive!  And very much a part of First Congregational UCC, a liberal voice of Christianity in Jamestown. Come and see.  We are the family that will love you regardless of creed, politics, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

- Rev. Martin Nussbaum

Community Driven

Serving the community

with food and fellowship

At various events during the year we host the community and welcome them for home cooking.. From the Swiss Steak Dinner to the Salad Luncheon or the rummage sale serving caramel rolls or BBQ's we connect with our community. Along with  our older population, we offer whatever and wherever we can in support of our small and growing diverse community on the prairie.

Local Projects

Our most unusual project was sharing a garage we no longer used  to serve as a small bus depot so those traveling to other towns had a place to wait out of the weather. It was our contribution to a community project that remodeled the building for the traveling population.

Along with international and national UCC missions such as  justice and education for Native Americans our local efforts are focused on those in need., whether it's refugees, members of the LGTBQ community, children or women.

Our Mission Statement

All people are the Children of God, called into a loving relationship with the Creator and each other regardless of faith, politics, gender, ethnicity or sexuality. As a household of faith, we follow and proclaim the teachings of Jesus our Savior and Brother, who showed us the power of God’s grace and steadfast love to change lives. With the Bible as our inspiration, we share timeless wisdom passed down to us by prophets and apostles to restore harmony, peace and justice to all of God’s children and guide us into the future.

How we serve

Christian Education

We serve University of Jamestown students as well as our church members providing support and knowledge as well as community classes in living out our Christian faith, expanding our  knowledge of the Bible and knowlege of Christian history. We are learning more about who we are.

Reaching Out

We took the comma on our travels last summer to show the world that God didn't stop talking to us at the end of the Bible. Our faith is more than 2000 years old. Our thinking is not. In this time when hate has taken over so many churches, we share Christianity as it is meant to be.

Justice Ministries

Whether it's helping refugees settle in our community or advocating for them and others  we serve all who are on life's journey, And we are always looking for ways to reach out to all ages and ethnicities as well as the LGTBQ  community. We've been wearing safety pins symbolizing that everyone who has reason to fear is safe with us, our families and in our church.
